Don’t let the enemy enter

Posted on Posted in Faith, Prayer, Worship

‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭19:33‬ By the way that he came he will return; he will not enter this city, declares the Lord.

When the king was besieged by a a large army, he did not hesitate to enquire of the Lord. Rather than complain or depend on his own strength or devices, he fully depended on God. Through the prophet Isaiah, he then received this word about his enemy: By the way that he came he will return; he will not enter this city, declares the Lord.

God does not want the enemy to enter your “city”. He does not want the enemy to enter your heart, your thoughts, your temple. He wants him to stay out of your life.

This does not mean the enemy won’t come knocking on your door. Just don’t let him enter! Or, as someone once said, “when the devil knocks on my door, I will let Jesus answer.”

One way to do this, is to guard your heart (Proverbs 4). Make sure that you meditate on God’s word daily (Psalm 1). Always submit to God first, and then resist the devil (James 4:7). When you keep the Holy Spirit as your counselor, He will help you do this.

God will always be there when we humbly submit to Him. Then we can resist the devil!
