The presence of God in the new covenant

1 Chronicles 13:14 The ark of God remained with the family of Obed-Edom in his house for three months, and the Lord blessed his household and everything he had.

The presence of God is not something to be taken lightly. There are many commentaries on what happened to Uzzah and why, one thing that remains is that God’s presence is absolutely holy and insurvivable for man, if it were not for Christ’s presence in us.

When the ark of God was at the family of Obed-Edom’s, they were blessed for it. The presence of God in the Old Testament hovered in and around the ark of the covenant.

We now live in the new covenant. This means that there are several changes. First of all, because we are in now Christ, if we are a Christian, we can now enjoy the presence of God. Of course His presence is as strong and powerful as ever, and we still need to come before Him with awe and reverence. Secondly, God’s presence is now not dependant on the ark, but is dependant on us hosting it, us as little temples and us as gathered temples. We are now the temple, where the Holy Spirit wants to live. Are we such a temple? Can we host the presence of God? If we open ourselves, we will be blessed and enjoy His presence.
