The way of love is costly

Ephesians 5:1-2 Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

Love is not without risk. The concept of love that the world has is often void of the cost that the Bible attaches to it. But love without a sacrifice is not the way of love Christ showed us.

Walking in the way of love, means that we count the cost of love. Love is not self-serving. It keeps no record of wrongs. It always forgives. It endures all things. (1 Cor. 13).

Christ gave himself up. Are we willing to give our “self” up and love others as Christ loved us? Are we willing to count the cost of love?

Love also means exposing the deeds of darkness (vs. 11), being careful about how we live (vs. 15) and not getting drunk on wine (vs. 18). Love is making music from the heart (vs. 19) and always giving thanks in everything! (vs. 20).

Let’s walk in that way of love.
