What is holiness?

Exodus 22:31 You are to be my holy people.

We are to be God’s holy people. What does that mean? The Hebrew word for “holiness” is qodesh, which means set apart, consecrated or dedicated.

I love that word “dedicated”. I have a coffee machine in my office which is completely dedicated for making me “coffee at work”. It has no other purpose. When you are dedicated onto the Lord, you have no other purpose but to glorify Him. You cannot come to such dedication by the old ways of the old testament, but only by the new workings of the Holy Spirit within you, through Christ.

Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 6:13 You say, “Food for the stomach and the stomach for food,” The body, however, is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.

In other words: food has no other purpose than to enter the stomach. A stomach has no other purpose than to consume food. Likewise, our bodies have no other purpose than to glorify God. And God has no other purpose than to dwell in us.

Christ in you, the hope of glory!

Holiness means that He is in me, and I am in Him. Dedicated for life!
